image-product 3T&nbspMagnetic Resonance Imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive and painless technique for creating detailed images of the structures of the human body. The accuracy of the images depends upon the magnetic induction. One of our machines is Siemens 3T Magnetom Spectra MRI.
The induction field of this MRI is 3 Tesla, making it much faster and more accurate than most of the equipment used in Poland. It is a solution that offers a breakthrough improvement in image quality and therefore provides very precise and fast diagnostics.

THE WEIGHT LIMIT IN OUR CENTRE FOR MRI (3T) IS 140 KG

Mandatory questionnaire to be completed (also available in the clinic) – ATTACHMENTS

Before an MRI scan please:

  • Do not eat for 2 hours before appointment (not applicable for all examinations)
  • Bring your ID card and valid test results for creatinine levels (not applicable for all examinations).
  • Report to the reception 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment.
  • Bring any relevant previous medical records.
  • Take your daily drugs as prescribed.
  • The information for specific examinations (e.g. pelvic examinations) is available on registration.

Please notify us at registration if you have any of the following:

  • Implanted prosthesis,
  • Metal implant in the body,
  • Pacemaker,
  • IUD,
  • Metal clasps, screws, vascular clamps, tattoos or if as a result of your work, you may have chips or fragments of metal in your body,
  • Gunshot wounds – with bullet fragments in your body,
  • Dental fillings,
  • Medical operations and any allergies to contrast agents found during previous MRI examinations,
  • Allergies to any drugs, foods, chemicals or any other allergies
  • Chronic diseases,
  • Anxiety while in closed spaces (claustrophobia).

You need to let us know if you are pregnant and if you are breast-feeding, you should not feed your child for 24 hours after the scan.

Absolute contraindications (Exclusion from an MRI scan):

MRI produces a very strong magnetic field that interferes with electrical and electronic devices. You can’t have an MRI scan if you have them implanted in your body, in particular if you have:

  • Cardiac pacing system
  • Insulin pump
  • Implanted hearing aid
  • Neurostimulators
  • Intracranial metal clips
  • Pieces of metal in the eye

Relative contraindications (Partial exclusion from an MRI scan):

Relative contraindications to perform an MRI scan are:

  • Claustrophobia
  • Any metal object in the soft tissue
  • Orthopedic implants
  • Artificial heart valves
  • Permanent tattoo makeup
  • Braces
  • Pregnancy – not advisable to perform a scan in the first trimester

Notes

For patients with implants (that are relative contraindications) an MRI scan can be conducted only with the consent of the doctor that implanted the device or the referring doctor. They have to confirm that the scan can be performed in an MRI of the 1.5T field strength. In this regard, it is also possible to present a passport issued by the implant manufacturer.
