image-product 1.5T&nbspMagnetic Resonance Imaging

Magnetic Resonance (MRI) is a non-invasive and painless imaging method that uses magnetic fields to assess the human body.
MRI provides exceptionally detailed images of all body structures in multiple planes without the use of ionising radiation.
Skanmex offer the high-field GE scanner Signa HDI (1.5 Tesla), which has greater diagnostic capabilities than a low-field MRI (0.2 – 0.35 Tesla). This fixture is designed for highly specialized neurological, oncological and orthopaedic diagnostic procedures.
Due to the presence of two magnetic resonances of different emitted magnetic field flow, we can select the appropriate equipment according to the patient’s conditions and contraindications. It also increases the performance and appointment availability of our clinic, which allows us to determine the nearest available appointment time in Wrocław.

Q&A "Questions and Answers"

Make an appointment: CONTACT US

Mandatory questionnaire to be completed (also available in the clinic) – ATTACHMENTS

Before an MRI scan please:

  • Do not eat for 2 hours before appointment (not applicable for all examinations)
  • Bring your ID card and valid test results for creatinine levels (not applicable for all examinations).
  • Report to the reception 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment.
  • Bring any relevant previous medical records.
  • Take your daily drugs as prescribed.
  • The information for specific examinations (e.g. pelvic examinations) is available on registration.

Please notify us at registration if you have any of the following:

  • Implanted prosthesis,
  • Metal implant in the body,
  • Pacemaker,
  • IUD,
  • Metal clasps, screws, vascular clamps, tattoos or if as a result of your work, you may have chips or fragments of metal in your body,
  • Gunshot wounds – with bullet fragments in your body,
  • Dental fillings,
  • Medical operations and any allergies to contrast agents found during previous MRI examinations,
  • Allergies to any drugs, foods, chemicals or any other allergies
  • Chronic diseases,
  • Anxiety while in closed spaces (claustrophobia).

You need to let us know if you are pregnant and if you are breast-feeding, you should not feed your child for 24 hours after the scan.

Absolute contraindications (Exclusion from an MRI scan):

MRI produces a very strong magnetic field that interferes with electrical and electronic devices. You can’t have an MRI scan if you have them implanted in your body, in particular if you have:

  • Cardiac pacing system
  • Insulin pump
  • Implanted hearing aid
  • Neurostimulators
  • Intracranial metal clips
  • Pieces of metal in the eye

Relative contraindications (Partial exclusion from an MRI scan):

Relative contraindications to perform an MRI scan are:

  • Claustrophobia
  • Any metal object in the soft tissue
  • Orthopedic implants
  • Artificial heart valves
  • Permanent tattoo makeup
  • Braces
  • Pregnancy – not advisable to perform a scan in the first trimester

For patients with implants (that are relative contraindications) an MRI scan can be conducted only with the consent of the doctor that implanted the device or the referring doctor. They have to confirm that the scan can be performed in an MRI of the 1.5T field strength. In this regard, it is also possible to present a passport issued by the implant manufacturer.

Should I report to my MRI examination with an empty stomach?

MRI diagnostics do not require the patient to be fasting. However, it is recommended not to eat for 2 hours before the scheduled appointment.
